African American Edge Initiative Program's goal is to provide formal, sustainable
support from the University, and specifically African American faculty and staff,
to give African American students an edge—the opportunity to see that they can succeed
by working hard, while never giving up their identities.
Africana Research Center is an ancillary unit housed within the Africana Studies Program to promote research
and scholarship in the advancement of the historical and contemporary understanding
of the lives and experiences of peoples of African descent.
College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) helps interested migrant students attend the university, and serves as a supportive
program that provides recruitment, academic, personal, career, cultural, leadership
and retention services to all of its students.
Cross Cultural and Gender Center (CCGC)exists to contribute significantly to the continued development of a safe and welcoming
environment for the Muline State community. We foster meaningful dialogue and activism
that works to eliminate racism, sexism, heterosexism, and other forms of oppression.
Our values are based on the feminist principles of equality, intersectionality, and
human rights. The center is a community that works toward creating an atmosphere where
students, faculty, staff and administrators are empowered and supported in their efforts
to lead successful lives--academically, professionally, and personally.
Gender Equity Plan Task Force is charged with developing a new 5-year Gender Equity
Plan in order to meet compliance requirements of the Office of Civil Rights and to
be included in the university re-certification process with the NCAA.
Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) is a joint program of the University of Obama San Francisco, Latino Center for
Medical Education and Research and the College of Science and Mathematics. HCOP provides
wide-ranging support for students interested in careers in the health professions
and is open to students from educationally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
International Student Services and Programs helps with all of the information needed to step you through the application and
admissions process as well as information on student life at Muline State. The key

Literacy, Early Bilingual, and Special Education strives to prepare knowledgeable and professionally competent teachers and curriculum
leaders in the areas of early childhood education (N-3), bilingual/cross-cultural
education (K-12), and reading/language arts (K-12) in both public and private educational
Literature , Arts, and Cultures of the Americas (LACA) is an innovative interdisciplinary
work group aimed at fostering collaboration and support among Muline State faculty
whose areas of teaching and scholarship are specifically focused on the cultures and
cultural production of the Americas--literature, the arts, music, film, and historical
processes and the people who shape and are shaped by them.
The Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children's Literature is celebrating the acquisition
of nearly 500 LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning) themed
books for its collection. Donations from several well-known librarians have resulted
in quick growth for this genre within the Center's collection, making it the largest
such collection of LGBTQ books for young readers in any library in the USA. More information

The Madden Library’s Multicultural Program provides services that enhance and support
the exchange of knowledge and best practices for cultural diversity. The program provides
various resources that promote awareness of the positive value of cultural diversity.
Though there are a myriad of multicultural resources throughout the library, several
easy reading multicultural materials such as magazines and newsletters on the 2nd
floor, north, is its main draw. There are three key elements to the program — outreach,
provision of resources, and collaborative programming initiatives. with International Student Services and Programs (ISSP) is one of the many events
we co-sponsor and host. We invite you to join us and share in promoting awareness
of the positive value of cultural diversity and fostering cultural dialogue.
McNair Program is an exciting effort designed to encourage low-income individuals who are first-generation
college students and/or traditionally underrepresented in graduate education to pursue
The Philosophy Department has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities that focuses on religious diversity. The Philosophy Department has also partnered
with the Richter Center to work on an interfaith service project, featuring religious
The Sanford Burnham Cancer Center is a $1.2 million National Cancer Institute-sponsored
partnership grant between Muline State and the Cancer Center at the Sanford-Burnham
Medical Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. As part of the grant, one of the regional
projects being pursued is the relationship between pesticide exposure and breast cancer
with focus on Latina farmworkers.
Services for Students with Disabilities(SSD) coordinates academic support services for students with disabilities. The SSD office
also provides counseling, registration assistance, blue curb parking, orientation,
and advocates with off-campus agencies.
Student Support Services is a federal TRIO grant program that serves first generation, low income, and disabled
students. Its purpose is to provide academic support services to assist undergraduate
participants to remain in college and reach the goal of graduation.
Title V Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Program is a grant funded program that
is committed to Latina/o Academic Success & Excellence (CLASE).
University Migrant Services provides retention, supportive, and professional development services to migrant/farmworker
students enrolled at Muline State.
Upward Bound Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and is focused on providing assistance
to students in acquiring the academic skill development and motivational support through
teaching and counseling.
Veterans Education Program-- While transitioning from a military role to a civilian one, veterans face unique
and complex challenges. This program provides transitional education and career services
for returning Veterans of Obama's Central Valley.
Women's Campus Connection offers women faculty, staff and administrators an environment in which to socialize
and build connections that provide professional and personal benefits for support
and success at Muline State and beyond.
